Job Description*

We are hiring a Controller for a well-established, member-focused Credit Union. This is a full-time, onsite leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance, and driving financial strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee financial operations, accounting processes, and reporting
• Prepare and analyze financial statements
• Manage general ledger, reconciliations, and financial controls
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes
• Ensure regulatory compliance (banking/credit union standards)
• Monitor financial performance and provide strategic insights to leadership
• Implement and maintain internal controls
• Supervise and mentor accounting team
• Coordinate with external auditors and stakeholders

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong experience in:
  • Financial reporting
  • General ledger management
  • Account reconciliation
• Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance (banking / financial institutions)
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with accounting systems

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA or CMA preferred
• Prior experience in Credit Union / Banking industry (HIGHLY PREFERRED)

• 10+ years of progressive experience in Accounting / Finance roles
• Currently working as Controller / Assistant Controller / Senior Accounting Leader
• Strong expertise in:
  • General Ledger management
  • Account Reconciliation
  • Financial Statement Preparation & Reporting
• Proven experience in:
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Financial analysis to support strategic decisions
• Solid knowledge of:
  • Regulatory compliance (banking / financial environment)
  • Internal controls & audit processes
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Accounting software / ERP systems
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (reporting, analysis)
• Demonstrated leadership:
  • Managing and mentoring accounting teams
  • Driving accountability and performance
• Strong analytical mindset with:
  • High attention to detail
  • Problem-solving capability
  • Ability to work in a structured, compliance-driven environment
• Excellent communication skills:
  • Ability to interact with executive leadership, auditors, and stakeholders
• Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance (MANDATORY)
  • CPA or CMA preferred
• Industry Preference:
  • Experience in banking / credit union / financial services (HIGHLY PREFERRED)
