Job Description* We are hiring a Controller for a well-established, member-focused Credit Union. This is a full-time, onsite leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance, and driving financial strategy. Key Responsibilities: Oversee financial operations, accounting processes, and reporting Prepare and analyze financial statements Manage general ledger, reconciliations, and financial controls Lead budgeting and forecasting processes Ensure regulatory compliance (banking/credit union standards) Monitor financial performance and provide strategic insights to leadership Implement and maintain internal controls Supervise and mentor accounting team Coordinate with external auditors and stakeholders Required Skills & Qualifications: Strong experience in: Financial reporting General ledger management Account reconciliation Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Knowledge of regulatory compliance (banking / financial institutions) Strong leadership and team management skills Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Experience with accounting systems Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA or CMA preferred Prior experience in Credit Union / Banking industry (HIGHLY PREFERRED) Skills and Certifications [note: bold skills and certification are required] 10+ years of Accounting / Finance experience Credit Union / Banking / Financial Services ✅ Strong Accounting Leadership (Controller-Level) Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance (mandatory)    Ideal Candidate – Controller (Credit Union / Banking)   10+ years of progressive experience in Accounting / Finance roles Currently working as Controller / Assistant Controller / Senior Accounting Leader Strong expertise in: General Ledger management Account Reconciliation Financial Statement Preparation & Reporting Proven experience in: Budgeting & Forecasting Financial analysis to support strategic decisions Solid knowledge of: Regulatory compliance (banking / financial environment) Internal controls & audit processes Hands-on experience with: Accounting software / ERP systems Advanced Microsoft Excel (reporting, analysis) Demonstrated leadership: Managing and mentoring accounting teams Driving accountability and performance Strong analytical mindset with: High attention to detail Problem-solving capability Ability to work in a structured, compliance-driven environment Excellent communication skills: Ability to interact with executive leadership, auditors, and stakeholders Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance (MANDATORY) CPA or CMA preferred Industry Preference: Experience in banking / credit union / financial services (HIGHLY PREFERRED) Stable career history (no job hoppers)
